Inspired by the experiences traversing New York City, the work captures the paradoxical feeling of being simultaneously connected to and detached from urban life. As viewers approach the installation, distance sensors trigger a cascade of memories in the form of video fragments that emerge from building windows, accompanied by a layered soundscape of city noise, citypop music, and contemplative voiceovers exploring themes of isolation.
The visual distrotion is a large part of this installation. These distortions serve as metaphors for the artist's internal landscape: unstable, shaking, yet full of potential and discovery. The piece culminates in an aerial perspective where the viewer witnesses themselves being consumed by the city's neon glow, suggesting both surrender to and transcendence of urban existence.
